The Pousada was built 25 years ago and stands on high and commmanding ground with immense views across the plains of Alentejo and to the Serra de Andevalo in Spain.

Food of the region is standard Alentejano cuisine with pork as its main meat, cooked in a variety of ways. Among the meat dishes ganso de vitela estufada com gumelos (veal stew with mushrooms) is a great favourite. It is not difficult to find good wine
